Leap of Faith 2018 Women’s Retreat Weekend

Leap of Faith is an invitation to all women over the age of 18 who want a weekend away to take time out and come closer to God whilst having a bit of fun in the process. This will be “Leap of Faith’s” fifth year and it’s a chance for women from across the whole Diocese to come together in fellowship, faith, fun and friendship. The event has always been a resounding success where many were truly inspired to seek a deeper relationship with God.

10:30Modern Slavery Conference
Modern Slavery Conference, 10.30am-3.30pm (refreshments from 10.00am)at Christ Church, Beckenham. This is part of our Freedom from Slavery Campaign.
Our Speakers:
• Bishop James Langstaff, the Bishop of Rochester.
• Bishop Alastair Redfern, the Bishop of Derby, who has campaigned in the House of Lords and in his own diocese to raise awareness of modern slavery and improve support for the survivors.
• Caroline Virgo, Project Officer for The Clewer Initiative, will give a national perspective on how dioceses across England are responding.
• Lys Ford, a Partnerships Officer from The Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority, will share how they are responding to labour exploitation in the UK.
• Lara Bundock from the Snowdrop Project will share about her work supporting survivors of modern slavery.
• Mark Bailey, Strategic Partnerships Director of Hope for Justice, will give an insight into how they are responding.
• There will also be Workshops with some of our Speakers, opportunities to network and a Q&A session.
This event will be a key date for those wanting to work in the diocese to respond to modern slavery, and for those who want to understand more. It is free of charge and there will be a lunch break with refreshments (tea/coffee etc) but note that lunch will not be provided so do please bring a packed lunch.

13:00ST BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH FAIR 2018
St Bartholomew’s Church Otford will be holding its Annual Church Fair from 1pm on the Village Green in Otford, lots to do, see and buy including plants, cakes, crafts, books, gifts, white elephant, strawberries & cream, raffle, children’s games Morris dancers, bbq and much more and home-made refreshments served throughout the afternoon.
