Community Tree Festival at St Justus Church, Rochester

Christmas TreeSt Justus Church, Rochester, held its first community Tree Festival over the weekend 12-14 December, culminating in a Carol Service on the Sunday evening. The festival was a great success, drawing in a wide range of groups in the sponsoring of trees, including the Brownies, Medway Stop Smoking Support, Medway Food Bank, CAP Debt Counselling, Dementia Friends, and local primary and secondary schools. 39 trees were sponsored in all, and the Prayer Tree and Remembrance Tree proved particularly popular, giving people the opportunity to pause and to write a name or a prayer on a star.

Local musicians gave their services for free and performed live throughout the weekend, including RGS choir NChant who sang on Friday afternoon. Many visitors came from the local area and beyond, and through their generosity over £600 was raised for the Wisdom Hospice, our partner charity.
