On 26th April, Faith Communities of Gravesham united against terrorism and gathered together on Gravesend Community Square to remember victims of the terrorist suicide bombings that took place Sri Lanka.
The bombings occurred in three Christian Churches and three hotels in Colombo on Easter Day.
The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby, said in a statement that:
"Those affected by the appalling and despicable attacks on churches and hotels in Sri Lanka will be in the prayers of millions marking Easter Sunday around the world. On this holy day, let us stand with the people of Sri Lanka in prayer, condolence and solidarity as we reject all violence, all hatred and all division."
In a further message of solidarity he said:
"We are called to be part of the global body of Christ and we hurt because others are hurt; we mourn when others mourn; we cry out on behalf of the injured, the bereaved and the terrified."
Those present at the event in Gravesham said that it had been 'a moving time together.
