Biscuit Bake Helps Clean Up The Jordan

Biscuit BakeWith accomplished cooks of St. George's (Beckenham) Junior Church, who do an annual pre-Lent Biscuit Bake for charity, there is never a shortage of people anxious to donate at coffee time after the 9.30 Eucharist.

Clean Up The Jordan involves Israeli, Palestinian and Jordanian youngsters, working together to refresh the river which holds such meaning for us but has dwindled into a trickling, open drain, by re-routing the pollution and clearing debris.

As such, the project has Biblical, peacemaking and environmental connotations and in the space of just 45 minutes enough biscuits were made (and sampled!) in the church hall to raise £125 for the charity, where £50 sponsors a one day work camp.
