Bishop James  - 'surgery has gone well'

Following surgery in early February for bowel cancer, Bishop James has shared the news that his surgery has gone well.

Subsequent analysis has also confirmed that there has been no spread of the cancer and that further treatment will not be needed.

Thanks for prayers and messages of goodwill

In a letter to the Diocese, Bishop James said: "I am writing to express my thanks for the huge number of cards and messages received over the last few weeks.

"Bridget and I are truly grateful for this generous expression of good wishes from so many individuals, parishes, schools and others.  In particular, the assurance of people’s prayers has meant a lot. "

Return to work

He also expressed his gratitude for the 'skill and care of all those who were involved at Medway Maritime Hospital.'

It is now expected that Bishop James will return to work in the week beginning 11th March.
