Easter Eggstravaganza at St Francis Strood

First published on: 8th April 2021

Residents around St Francis Church in Strood enjoyed discovering Easter eggs in unexpected places, following an Easter Egg drop by the church in the run up to the Easter weekend.

The eggs included a QR code to scan taking users to complete a virtual treasure hunt that pieced together the Easter story and its significance.

Puzzles involved videos and picture clues to be found on the St Francis YouTube channel and a special facebook page.

At the end of the online treasure hunt there was a password allowing entry into a prize draw which took place on Easter Sunday

Giovanni Parrales, the Pioneer Estate Minister at St Francis Strood said:

"We are really grateful to Scripture Union’s resources that enabled us to create this eggsxciting treasure trail, helping explain the Easter story, and its significance for us today."

It's just one of the many creative ways churches across the area of the Diocese have engaged their congregations and communities with the Easter story this year, in light of Covid-19 restrictions.

From Easter trails around church grounds and decorative Easter gardens, to 'Easter-in-a-bag' packs and online services and meditations.

Churches have truly been celebrating and sharing the Easter message of hope this year.
