A week of teaching and renewal has taken place at St Augustine's Belvedere to enable the congregation to learn and be confident in catholic evangelism.

Fr Clive Jones Parish Priest and Vicar of St Augustine, Belvedere said: "The aim was to uplift and renew peoples' spirits through teaching, prayer and by sharing and discovering new experiences."

Called 'Fan the Flames', the mission initaitive ran across the week. Every evening had a special theme such as grace, reconciliation, baptism or eucharist.

The church was re-arranged each evening to face the font or the image of Our Lady or the Blessed Sacrament, depending on the focus of the event.

Prayers, music and meditations helped lead people in reflection.

Fr Clive said: "We are blessed to be supported by a home team Manda, Pat and William who have been planning this for over a year.

"We also were joined by our three missioners: Fr Michael Bailey from Bexhill, Fr Graham Lunn  from Beckenham and Sister Carol SSM from Walsingham."

He continued:

"This really was a great week for our parish and we received over a 100 prayer cards from other parishes, bishops and religious communities assuring us of their support."
