Walk For Peace in Medway 2017 - Walking 4 Oneness

Walk for Peace is a walk between Gillingham and Rochester, via Chatham. It is open to local people and others, striving for peace and unity across all the communities in Medway. The Walk aims to bring together people of different cultures and backgrounds, promote friendship and embrace positive, interfaith and secular relations through a common cause – peace.

The theme of the Walk this year is ‘Walking for Oneness’ to show how, as individuals, we are part of a broad neighbourhood of communities, walking together with a single purpose that encourages friendship.

The event will begin at 10:00 in Gillingham High Street, then walk to Chatham arriving at 11:00, moving to Rochester as 12:30 and ending at 13:00. We are planning to have a prominent speaker at Rochester, as well as music and other attractions.

Medway Inter Faith Action (MIFA), organisers of the Walk, are inviting and encouraging local charities, community groups, schools, residents and like-minded people to participate in the event.

As well as inviting Trinity School and College to actively join the walk, MIFA would like to invite your pupils to further participate and demonstrate support for ‘Walking for Oneness’, by contributing items of art, poetry, prose or prayer for display, that reflect the theme of the walk, the oneness of humankind. As the key word of this year’s theme is “Oneness”, work submitted for display should not have a focus on any particular political or religious issue or cause. Inclusion of your school’s badge on any work submitted for exhibition, or displayed by anyone representing your school on the walk, is welcome and appreciated in recognition of Trinity School and College’s work and support for the peaceful unity of mankind and this year's Walk for Peace, “Walking for Oneness”.
