Bishop Jonathan Gibbs, the Bishop of Rochester, was interviewed as part of an ITV News Meridian piece about a renewed effort to change the law to allow terminally ill adults to be allowed help to end their lives.
The Private Member's Bill is being brought by Rochester MP, Lauren Edwards and is set to return to Parliament in September.
Speaking in the piece, Bishop Jonathan raised his concern that such a system could change the relationship between society, the elderly, and the vulnerable:
“In particular, those who may face some form of coercion or feel they're a burden on society? I think we need to weigh very, very carefully the implications of such a huge change.”
