Malling Abbey

The community of Anglican Benedictine nuns at West Malling Abbey sought conversation with the Diocese for a suitable use of their guest house. Through prayerful discernment and discussion, plans evolved to develop the St Benedict’s Centre.

The St Benedict’s Centre will be a place for retreat and formation, using part of the cloister, the guest house and chapel in the Abbey grounds. St Augustine’s College of Theology will be tenants of the St Benedict's Centre and construction of their new library and offices has been granted planning permission and work should be completed by October 2016.

The Diocesan team is handing over this project to a newly formed charitable body, who will oversee the construction and running of the new centre.
