Even in these difficult economic times, BCU is still able to offer services 2 days per week to the local community. Last year’s Walk raised over £10,000 including the Gift Aid – a very respectable figure considering it was the 23rd Annual Walk. In spite of the recession, the walkers turned out and the people of Bexley gave generously.

We have been fortunate in being successful with a further 3 year grant application to Yapp Foundation for core costs which helps us to continue providing services for the Thursday Women’s Group and for the Friday drop in. We continue to offer a low cost nutritious hot meal, and this attracts many weekly clients. We provide courses such as Food Hygiene and First Aid to enable adults to gain essential skills and Self Development Courses to enable confidence building and assertiveness training.

We are very much indebted to Trinity Baptist church who support us by offering the premises we use at a peppercorn rent and to Christ Church for supporting us with the Walk.

This year’s 24th Churches’ Walk will take place on Saturday 29th April 2017 and will start at 10am with an expected finishing time about 3.30pm. The start point as usual is St John’s Church, Danson Lane, Welling and we will have our final refreshments at Pincott Hall at the rear of Christ Church, Broadway, Bexleyheath. There will be a lunch stop at the Holy Redeemer, Sidcup and a tea stop at United Reformed Church, Bexley. The Mayor of Bexley and David Evennett, MP will attend the start of the Walk to give their support to the Walkers.
