The Children and Young People Team are here to advise, support and help churches celebrate mission and ministry with children and young people across the Diocese,
We are passionate about ensuring children and young people are offered life-enhancing encounters with Jesus Christ, can participate as equal partners in the life of the Church, and have opportunities to explore their vocation.
We are committed to helping all those who work with children, young people and their families, create safe and enabling environments that ensure integrity and good working practice with young people.
We can offer a variety of support, such as:
- help with appointing employed workers
- advising volunteers and working alongside incumbents, PCC's and Deaneries to consider how parishes can best welcome, nurture and include children and young people as equal partners in the life of the Church.
Working towards a Child Friendly Church award might be one step you may wish to explore, and which can be used as part of your Called to Grow plan for your church. Gaining this award allows you to demonstrate that children and young people are welcomed, valued, nurtured, and taken seriously as joint heirs in God’s kingdom and equal partners in the life of your church.
We can can also offer training to parishes as well as grants through our Children and Young People Fund.Training events will be listed in the Events and Training [LINK] section
In addition, the Diocesan Youth Council exists to promote and celebrate listening and responding to the voice of children and young people from across the diocese.
If you are a children’s or youth worker, voluntary or paid and need further information or would like to discuss some ideas, please do get in touch.
