Deepen your relationship with God

Spirituality is about our personal relationship with God on our journey through life and the ways in which we can deepen that relationship through prayer and reflection.

Christianity has a rich and fruitful history of spiritual practice spanning two millennia, helping Christians across the world to draw closer to God. You are encouraged to find and explore the way that is most helpful to you – and to allow this to change, perhaps, as you continue along your faith journey.

The Diocese of Rochester offers various avenues for you to explore and deepen your faith and prayer life, particularly through the work of the  Rochester Diocesan Spirituality Network:

Closer
Our course in Christian Spirituality offers personal exploration, experience and sharing of various ways of praying.

The Prayer PackA series of leaflets to guide you (and/or your parish) into different ways of praying, for you to download individually or as a pack.

Spiritual Direction or Accompaniment
Encourages you to explore a close relationship with God in the midst of everyday life by sharing your life and faith experiences in complete trust and confidence with a spiritual director or accompanier.

Quiet Days
A day away from your worldly concerns, an opportunity to experience peace and quiet time, often with some input provided for you to reflect on.

Retreats
A period of several days or longer to be away from your normal daily life, in which you may reflect on your life, your relationships, and your experience of God; to ponder the meaning of what has happened to you, and to prepare for the future. Retreats usually involve a good deal of silence and can be guided or non-guided.  Often you will be able to meet with a spiritual guide.
