Across the Diocese, we believe that responding to climate change is an essential part of our responsibility to safeguard God's creation.
It's why we're excited that this year, we will be following the national church's #LiveLent campaign - Care for God's Creation.
Thousands of people across the country are set to take action to help tackle Climate Change as part of this, the Church of England’s first ever official green Lent campaign.
#LiveLent is based on the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Lent Book, Saying Yes to Life, by Dr Ruth Valerio - who is also the new Canon Theologian at Rochester Cathedral.
Instead of giving up chocolate or alcohol for Lent, we will be challenged to follow a set of daily reflections, which correspond to chapters of the full Lent book for those wishing to go deeper. With children's, youth and family resources also available, there is something to help every age group to get involved.
So, why not join us on the journey?
Find out how to sign-up for daily reflections, where to buy Care for God's Creation materials, and details of the Diocese's own Lenten series of eco-films to accompany Care for God's Creation, by visiting: www.rochester.anglican.org/diocese/environment/
In a message to the Diocese, Dr Ruth Valerio has invited everyone to join her for a talk about her new book, 'Saying Yes To Life', on Sunday 23 February, 5pm at the Cathedral.
Her talk will also be live streamed on the Diocese's Facebook page
A great way to get your environmental Lent off to a good start.
