The Church of England's Energy Footprint Tool (EFT) for 2026 is now open for churches.
Completing the EFT is part of the Church's shared journey to net zero. Each year, the data collected helps build a clearer picture of carbon use, and helps parishes and dioceses act more strategically together to reduce emissions.
By filling in the EFT, churches are enabled to:
- make wise, targeted decisions to reduce their carbon footprint
- reduce their energy costs
- gain access to lots of new net zero funding for churches
All a church needs to complete it, is access to their energy bills for the previous year. Read more on the National Church's EFT webpage

Kayleigh Ward, Net Zero Adviser for the Diocese of Rochester says that filling in the Energy Footprint Tool is an unseen but essential act of caring for God’s people and creation.
"We are so grateful that 88 per cent of churches took the time to complete the Tool last year, as it has really helped the Net Zero Team to plan and target our resources effectively.
"We hope to increase the number of churches completing this year and are here to support them with any questions or challenges they may have."
The EFT is open from Monday 12 January until 30 June, 2026
