We need to talk about Clergy Abuse in the Church of England

In light of recent media coverage about the Church of England’s response to the allegations of abuse by Bp Peter Ball, The Revd. Jonathan Fletcher and John Smyth, the Diocese is offering an opportunity for clergy to discuss the impact and issues raised by these cases.

Taking place on Monday 10 February, at the St Benedict's Centre, West Malling, this is a pastoral conversation that will be facilitated by The Ven Julie Conalty, (Bishop’s Advisor for Safeguarding and Archdeacon of Tonbridge) and The Ven Andy Wooding-Jones (Archdeacon of Rochester).

It is a response to concerns being raised by members of our clergy and their parishioners.

We appreciate that the highlighting of these cases in the media may be a trigger, for many different reasons, for people living  with a history of abuse within the church.

If you or someone you know needs support regarding an incident of church-related abuse, now or in the past, please don’t hesitate to contact our Diocesan Safeguarding team on 01634 560 000 or view their contact details here
