Leadership 2020/21

Leadership 2020/21

The Leadership Pathway is about leadership and cultural change, so it follows that the people who participate should be those who play a lead role in shaping the culture of the Church body concerned.  For more details please see the chart below.  (Updated November 2020).

The National Safeguarding Team has created a brand-new package that has replaced the old face to face module.  For the foreseeable future, all the trainer-led elements of the 2 sessions in the module will be carried out via Zoom.

The training consists of:

  1. Completing a workbook and returning this to the trainer four working days prior to the first of the two virtual sessions via Zoom.
  2. Attending the first virtual session via Zoom
  3. Completing a reflection on a psalm and a case study prior to attending the second Zoom session
  4. Completion of a reflection and watching a 2 hour documentary after the second Zoom session.

A reading list of relevant policies and some other sources is also provided, the reading is not a requirement however attendees are encouraged to develop their knowledge by use of these resources.

Please note you are required to attend both of the two Zoom sessions for a particular course, these dates are not interchangeable.  You only need to book once to have a place on both Zoom sessions. Please do not book on behalf of others, as the preparation documents and Zoom session links will be sent to the email address supplied in the booking.

Once you have booked a place on a course, please ensure that you have undertaken Basic Awareness (formerly C0) and Foundation (formerly C1) safeguarding training as completion of these modules is now a requirement for attending the Leadership module for the first time. If you have not yet undertaken these on-line training modules, then please do so before the Zoom sessions. Information on how to complete the online courses can be found at https://www.rochester.anglican.org/safeguarding/courses-safeguarding/

Should you have any queries regarding the content or format of this training, please email Greg Barry the Lead Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser at greg.barry@rochester.anglican.org

Trevor Long, a Reader and an Evangelist at St Matthew’s High Brooms, has recorded this video sharing his experience of attending the new Safeguarding Leadership course.
