The Trustees of Bromley & Sheppard's Colleges, in consultation with the Bishop of Rochester, are seeking to appoint an Anglican Priest to provide spiritual and pastoral care to the Colleges’ residents and staff.
This post is residential and requires a dedicated person with a sensitivity towards elderly people and ministry to clergy and lay people from a wide range of Anglican traditions. Good administrative skills, flexibility in attitude and working, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. [The postholder will be employed by the Colleges].
Rent free accommodation of a three bedroom house above the office will be provided. In addition, a small stipend of £2,000 is also available for the three days a week commitment.
Set within four acres of land and close to the town-centre with its shops and excellent transport links, Bromley College was founded in 1666 and Sheppard’s College in 1840. They now provide sheltered housing for clergy from the Church of England, the Church in Wales, the Scottish Episcopal Church and the Church of Ireland, retired clergy, their spouses (including after a divorce or separation), their widows & widowers as well as children of former residents who have materially assisted those residents. Both Colleges are Listed buildings with a Chapel and currently provide housing for around 50 beneficiaries and two residential members of staff.
